ANZAC Ceremony and Chinese Graduation...

ANZAC Ceremony...
Today we had our ANZAC Ceremony to remember all those who have given their lives in all the wars so we can enjoy the freedom and lifestyle we do today. Dr David Bennett was our special guest and spoke about his experience as an upper-mid gunner in a Lancaster Bomber Squadron operating out of the UK. He spoke of the 52 000 bomber crew, 45 000 of whom gave their lives performing their duty. He finished saying he remembered and missed all his friends who gave their lives, every day. Leisha Velterop, mum to Naomi, Thomas and Andrew played the Last Post and Revellie on her trumpet, with many people saying it was the best playing of those pieces they had heard. Thank you to Leisha for playing for us again this year. Thank you as well to our school councillors, who did such a great job as presenters, to all our musicians and choir and ensemble members and the staff and students who contributed to making it such a successful event. Also thank you to all our parents who helped out and in particular Di Reynolds and the ladies who assisted her in making the lovely wreaths and to Laura Lewis who graduated last year and came back to accompany the Vocal Ensemble on her flute.

Chinese Student Graduation...
Also today, our Chinese students from Beijing who have been with us all term had a Graduation Ceremony and sang some songs for us very competently as well as thanking the school, students and homestay families for making their time with us so beneficial and enjoyable. Here are some photos from the ceremony. A big thank you to Mrs Cruthers, our ESL teacher who has done so much to help and encourage the boys to improve their english over the 10 weeks.
